The grate base plates form part of the firebox base and provide a supporting surface for logs during normal stove operation. Supplied as a pair, these steel plates sit directly in the high-temperature area of the fire and are designed to withstand the demanding conditions inside the stove.

As the grate base plates are positioned close to the fire, they are considered sacrificial components and will naturally wear over time. Repeated exposure to high temperatures can cause the steel to discolour, thin, distort or eventually deteriorate. Replacing worn plates helps maintain the correct support for the firewood.
