This is a genuine replacement ash pan for the Mendip 8 Mk.2 wood-burning stove, supplied by Eurostove.

Fitted beneath the grate, the ash pan is a removable tray that collects ash as it falls through the fire bed, allowing it to be emptied without disturbing the burning fuel or spreading ash across the hearth. A damaged, warped, or corroded ash pan can allow ash to fall through into the base of the stove, and if it isn't emptied regularly because the pan is no longer serviceable, ash can build up and restrict the airflow that reaches the underside of the fire, reducing combustion efficiency.
This replacement is manufactured to the same dimensions as the original Mk.2 pan and fits directly into place, with no fixings required. Regular emptying, rather than letting the pan fill completely, helps keep airflow consistent and reduces strain on the grate above it. Mendip 8 stoves were produced across more than one version, so it's worth checking your stove's exact model version before ordering to make sure you get the correct fit.
