This bracket holds the rear fire bricks firmly against the back of the firebox, keeping them correctly positioned as the stove heats and cools through each burn cycle. Constant exposure to high temperatures can cause it to distort or corrode over several seasons of use.

A worn or failed bracket can allow the rear bricks to shift, drop, or crack against each other, which affects both the stove's heat retention and the way the fire burns. Replacing the bracket restores secure support for the rear brick set, and it's worth fitting new retention fixings (sold separately) at the same time if they show signs of wear.
